Reading Faces Carlisle With State Playoffs On The Line

At Garden Spot High School in New Holland, Pennsylvania, Reading faced Carlisle with state playoff contingency on the line. The Red Knights looked to rebound after a Saturday loss to Hershey and a Tuesday loss against Wilson.

The first quarter started slow for the Red Knights as Carlisle outscored them by 7 points at the end of the one. Carlisle’s defensive pressure and strong rebounding forced a 16-9 lead over Reading within the first quarter.

The second quarter offered much of the same for the Red Knights. Carlisle outplayed them in the first half of District 3-AAAA hoops, 31-18.

Reading’s Gilberto Benz and Meme Burdine began to cash in early during the second half. Burdine finished with 17 on the night and Benz shot for 16.

Reading failed to organize any offensive drive during this District 3-AAAA meet. Carlisle defeats Reading, 75-58. Reading faces state finals elimination with the evening’s loss. Carlisle’s Deshawn Milligan, a freshman, finished with 25 points.
