Looking for redemption after Lower Dauphin’s win over Wilson in District 3-AAAA football last fall, the No. 1 seed Bulldogs faced a No. 17 seed Lower Dauphin tonight in the District 3-AAAA playoffs. With impeccable offensive and defensive handling, Wilson defeated Lower Dauphin tonight, 49-39.
As both teams looked for an early lead, the first quarter of play was slow. Wilson topped the Falcons with a 5-2 lead after 1.
Lead by Wilson’s Travaun Coad and Sam Smith, the Bulldogs took a decisive lead in the 2nd quarter. Coad made a statement with a late 2nd quarter dunk, forcing Lower Dauphin into a timeout. #Wilson supporters rallied behind Coad’s slam, taking the Bulldogs into a 21-13 lead at the half.
However, Lower Dauphin would outscore Wilson the third quarter, offering up 12 points over Wilson’s 7. Wilson held off the Lower Dauphin surge with a 28-25 lead in the third.
Jaylin Calloway’s early three-pointer allowed for a Wilson retaliation in the fourth quarter. Wilson’s 10 unanswered points brought the Bulldogs to a 49-39 win over Lower Dauphin. Coad and Smith lead Wilson with 16 points each on the night.
