Reading Falls To No. 12 Hershey

Milton Hershey High School hosted the Reading Red Knights and the Hershey Trojans during District III-AAAA quarterfinals. A No. 4 seed, the Red Knights have won 9 of their last 10, a loss dealt by Wilson during BCIAA semifinals. With an equally impressive streak, the Trojans have won 12 of their last 14.

AbreuEarly in the first quarter, Reading and Hershey squared off in great back-and-forth action. However, Reading failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities and missed crucial rebounds. Hershey lead the Red Knights 24-16 after the first quarter.

Reading High School improved during the second quarter, drawing 21 points over the Trojan’s 18. At halftime, the Hershey Trojans bested the Reading Red Knights, 42-37.

Reading couldn’t construct any offensive action during the third quarter. The Red Knights committed numerous turnovers and defensive fouls during the quarter, allowing Hershey to take the 64-53 lead at the end of three.

Reading came within 5 points of the Hershey lead during the fourth. At the end of four, Hershey bested the Red Knights, 95-87. All five starters scored double-digits for Hershey; meanwhile, Reading’s Isael Abreu lead with 29 points for the Red Knights.

With tonight’s loss, Reading meets Wilson for the fourth time during this 2013-14 season.
