Wyomissing Secures a Senior Night Win

The Spartans kick started the game with the first back-to-back baskets from Sophomore Jarvay Bolton. Pottsgrove came out with some quick and precise passing, but came up short with baskets as Wyomissing lead at the end of the first by three points, 9-6.

As the second period took off, the Falcons found their footing and the lead within the first two minutes. Pottsgrove continued to hold the lead into half as Wyomissing struggled with passing and fell by two points to the Falcons at the end of the second, 18-20.

Wyomissing’s Bolton came back strong in the third putting the Spartans back on top by scoring half of Wyo’s points. Thomas Paolini, a junior for the Spartans, thrived during the third with continuous blocks on the Falcons, helping Wyomissing overtake the scoreboard.

Senior Liam Reedy helped to secure a five point lead for the Spartans with a rebound off of a missed shot by Bolton, putting Wyomissing at 30 and Pottsgrove with 25.

The fourth period took off with a battle of the baskets as Pottsgrove looked to make a comeback. Bolton continued to light up the scoreboard for the Spartans while the Falcons fought to keep up.

With a minute thirty left on the clock, Bolton went down with a knee injury and was escorted off the court by the athletic trainer and coaches.

The end of the fourth came down to mere seconds as Wyomissing saw the return of Bolton and Pottsgrove was able to bring the game to a one point difference.

With five seconds left on the clock, Pottsgrove took one last shot at a basket to pull for a W but came up short, giving Wyomissing the win with a final score of 42-41.

The Spartans move to an overall record of 13-6 and travel to Tulpehocken Thursday night.

The Pottsgrove Falcons fall to an overall record of 7-10.
