The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 15-14 lead after a tightly contested first quarter.
The second quarter played much more into the Lady Tigers favor as they outscored Exeter 14-7 in the second frame, on their way to a 29-21 lead. Fleetwood was led into the half by the efforts of Kendra Bamberger and Lauren Lister.
The second half for Fleetwood was all Cyre Virgo, who scored 17 of her game-high 21 after the intermission.
Exeter tried to keep pace in the third quarter, behind the scoring of Jennifer Eck and Abby Mengel, but the Lady Eagles still trailed 39-29 when the third quarter came to a close.
In attempts to cut the lead in the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles implemented a hack-a-Shaq type defense on Cyre Virgo. However, the defense failed as Virgo managed to sink 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch. The Lady Eagles would keep pace with Fleetwood for the entire fourth quarter, but were unable to cut into the lead at all.
Ultimately, Fleetwood would come out victorious behind a final score of 56-46.
The Lady Tigers got 21 points out of Cyre Virgo. They also received 14 points from freshman Lauren Lister and 12 from Kendra Bamberger.
Exeter got 17 points from Jennifer Eck in the game. Kayte Johnson and Abby Mengel each added 10 as well.
The Lady Tigers, who improved to 16-1 on the season, will next be in action Tuesday evening against Conrad Weiser. A Fleetwood win Tuesday would guarantee the Lady Tigers finish no worse than second in Berks II.
Exeter, who now stands at 13-4 overall, will travel to Wilson on Tuesday.
