A trio of Berks County girls basketball players are quickly approaching the 1000 career points milestone. Each of these three, barring unforeseen circumstances, should reach the millennium mark in January.
Leading the trio is Wilson senior Jessie Wallace, who currently sits at 968 career points. The Lady Bulldogs next play January 4th against Harrisburg. Wallace is averaging just under 14 points per game this season and if that average holds true, she will reach the milestone on January 11th against Shipley. However, do not be surprised if it comes on January 7th against Exeter.
Next on the list is Kutztown senior Hannah Bankes, who heads into Thursday’s matchup against Lincoln Leadership Academy with 967 career points. Being that Bankes has a game between now and the new year, she will likely be the first to reach the mark. Bankes needs 33 points and is averaging 16.5 per game this season. Simple math says she will reach 1000 on Janurary 3rd against Harrisburg Christian, but likely no later than January 6th vs Tulpehocken.
Believe it or not, Jessie Wallace is not the only Lady Bulldogs rapidly approaching the 1000 career point mark. Fellow senior Carley Brew currently has 953 career points. Brew is averaging 13 points per game this season and is on pace to reach 1000 on Tuesday January 14th against Daniel Boone.
Best of the luck to these three in the coming weeks, as well as all Berks County athletes.
