In front of a packed house at Albright College’s Bollman Center, the Saints took on the Mustangs of Bishop McNamara in the Hoop Group Tip-Off. The Mustangs are one of the top teams in the Washington D.C. area.
When the Saints took to the floor, they were looking to earn a milestone victory for head coach Snip Esterly, who entered Friday’s contest with 599 career victories.
Berks Catholic jumped out to an early 11-7 lead after the first quarter, led by the strong interior play of Nana Foulland and Connor Jack.
However, the Mustangs came roaring back to take a 25-21 lead at the half, with freshman guard Jamir Moultrie leading the way.
The Mustangs would hold a 36-35 lead over the Saints heading into the final quarter.
Ultimately, Bishop McNamara would use late free throws to pull away from the Saints and earn a 52-44 victory.
Berks Catholic’s Nana Foulland was awarded MVP of the Saints for his 22 point, 10 rebound performance, while Jamir Moultrie earned MVP for Bishop McNamara with 27 points.
Connor Jack grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for the Saints, while also dishing out 4 assists and scoring 4 points.
The Saints (3-2, 1-0) will next host Schuylkill Valley (1-3, 0-0) in a league contest on Tuesday.
