Coad, Calloway Too Much As Bulldogs Beat Muhls

In a Berks I matchup, the Wilson Bulldogs welcomed Muhlenberg on Friday night.  The Bulldogs had opened the season 3-0, heading into the league contest, while the Muhls were just 1-3.

At the conclusion of the first quarter, the Muhls held a one point advantage 14-13, after Nelson Hine hit a buzzer beating three pointer.

However, it would not take long for the Bulldogs to respond as both Jaylin Calloway and Travaun Coad caught fire in the second quarter, giving Wilson a 35-25 halftime lead.

Wilson once again dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Muhls 25-17 during the period, led largely by the hot shooting of Calloway.  The third quarter featured several Bulldog fast breaks, but none more impressive than Anthony Rivera’s dunk.

Already leading 60-42 heading into the final stanza, the Bulldogs opened up the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run, which featured the biggest dunk of this young season as Anthony Rivera found Travaun Coad on an alley-oop.

When it was all said and done, Wilson won 81-53.

The Bulldogs were led by Travaun Coad, who finished with a game-high 24 points, as well as Jaylin Calloway who poured in 22 points of his own and connected on 5 three point field goals.

The Muhls were led by Nelson Hine, who posted 17 points and 7 rebounds, while Jalen Flynn added 14 more points.

Wilson, now (4-0, 2-0), will host Central Dauphin on Saturday.  The Muhls, who fell to (1-4, 0-1) will travel to Cocalico on Monday.
