Boys Basketball: Blazers Top Pottsgrove

The Blazers (1-1) welcomed Pottsgrove (0-2) to their gym in Birdsboro on Thursday night.

The boys from Boone used a strong second quarter run, led by Daniel Downs, to take a 33-12 halftime lead.  In the first half, the Blazers used strong defense to force several Falcon turnovers.

Following the half, it was more of the same as the Blazers outscored the Falcons 18-5 in the third quarter, giving them a 51-17 lead heading into the final stanza.  Daniel Boone emptied their bench in the fourth quarter, giving several of their younger players a chance to play.

The Blazers held on to win 59-36.

Leading the Blazers offensively was a trio of double-digit scorers: Daniel Downs (13 points), Steven Sievers (12 points), and Kenny Worthington (10 points).  The Blazers defense was able to hold all Pottsgrove scorers under 10 points.  Tyrone Parker scored a team-high 9 points, all in the fourth quarter against the Blazers bench.

The Blazers (2-1) will play another Pac-10 school in Boyertown on Saturday.
