Basketball Milestone Watch: Potential 1000 Point Scorers

This is a list of players in Berks County boys and girls basketball, who could possibly reach 1000 career points this season, or in Brandi Vallely’s case…beyond.

Chris Warren (Sr., Berks Catholic) – 657 career points

If Warren duplicates his 2012-2013 total of 343 points, he will reach 1000 in late February.

Travaun Coad (Sr., Wilson) – 637 career points

Coad will once again take the reins as the leader of the Bulldogs basketball team.  Travaun scored 386 points last winter.  If he replicates that performance, he will finish with 1023.

Meme Burdine (Sr., Reading) – 578 career points

Burdine may be a long shot to reach 1000, given that he has to split shots with fellow star Gilberto Benz, but with Reading playing primarily local games this season against presumably lesser competition, do not rule it out.

Nana Foulland (Sr., Berks Catholic) – 466 career points

Nana has a long way to go to reach 1000, but do not doubt the reigning BCIAA Player of the Year.  The Bucknell commit will need to outperform his 420 points of a year ago.

Others to watch: Gilberto Benz (Sr. Reading, 470 points), Andy Wrobel (Jr. Antietam, 438 points), Robert Ekvall (Jr. Tulpehocken, 387 points), Connor Jack (Jr. Berks Catholic, 370 points), and Pop Lacey (Jr. Berks Catholic, 348 points).

Brandi Vallely (Sr., Oley Valley) – 1107 career points

Vallely has scored 1107 career points already in her career, despite missing the majority of her sophomore season due to injury. One cannot simply project where Brandi will end up for her career, but if I had to guess, 1850?

Jessie Wallace (Sr., Wilson) – 885 career points

Wallace, a Rider commit, had a tremendous junior season for Wilson after transferring from Muhlenberg. As long as she stays healthy, she will reach 1000 with ease.

Carley Brew (Sr., Wilson) – 875 career points

Brew, much like Wallace will reach 1000 with relative ease if she manages to stay healthy.  Brew will play collegiately at James Madison after her Wilson days are over.

Hannah Bankes (Sr., Kutztown) – 868 career points

Bankes will be front and center once again for Kutztown and could potentially reach 1000 in the second week of the season.

Ivory Bailey (Sr., Wilson) – 704 career points

Bailey is just one of many Bulldogs who will likely reach the 1000 point mark this season.

Avery Marz (Sr., Wilson) – 693 career points

Avery will likely reach 1000 points, but she will also be in charge of dishing the ball out to her teammates.  Marz, according to ESPN, is ranked as the No.17 PG amongst the class of 2014.  Marz has committed to play college basketball at St. Joes.

Hayley Kochel (Sr., Twin Valley) – 691 career points

Kochel will be the top offensive player for the Lady Raiders again this season and should be able to reach the 1000 point mark by season’s end.

Hannah Racis (Jr., Conrad Weiser) – 556 career points

Hannah Racis has the best chance of any junior to reach the 1000 point mark this season.  Coming off a soccer season, which saw her named to the All-State team, she will look to prove that she is potentially the best female athlete in Berks County.

Others to watch: Kendra Bamberger (Sr. Fleetwood, 529 points), Katrina Balatgek (Sr. Berks Catholic, 504 points), Deanna Daddonna (Jr. Brandywine Heights, 491 points), and Jennifer Eck (Jr. Exeter, 428 points).
