The Scouts may have struggled over the final weeks of the regular season, but those losses are now a distant memory as the boys from Conrad Weiser posted their second consecutive home shutout playoff win. Last week, the Scouts dashed Spring Grove’s D3 title hopes 24-0. This week the Scouts knocked off Dover 23-0.
The Scouts offense saw the return of Alex Guilbe in the backfield on Friday night. Guilbe had missed the previous two games with a foot injury. Dexter Jordan had filled in nicely for Guilbe in his absence. In fact, it was Jordan who led the offense tonight. Jordan finished with 12 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown, while also catching two passes for 23 yards and another touchdown. Senior QB Aidan Brosious, who does not throw the ball often, completed all 5 of his pass attempts on Friday for 88 yards and a score, while also carrying 4 times for 13 yards.
In addition to pitching their second consecutive shutout, the Scouts defense came up with a first quarter touchdown when Zach Torchia jumped on a loose ball in the end zone.
The Scouts (9-3) will face the daunting task of trying to defeat Bishop McDevitt (11-1) next Friday night in Harrisburg. Earlier this season when we spoke to Coach Alan Moyer, he was already anticipating having to cross paths with the Crusaders at some point this year. We will see if the early thoughts and preparation will have the Scouts prepared next week.
