Scouts Set For Battle With Dover in D3 AAA Playoffs

The Conrad Weiser Scouts are set to host a District 3 AAA quarterfinal matchup against Dover, after taking down Spring Grove 24-0 last week.  The Scouts come into the matchup with an 8-3 overall record, while the Dover Eagles are 9-2 and riding a 6 game winning streak.

The Eagles feature a two quarterback offense.  Senior QB Logan Ambrose takes the majority of the snaps, while sophomore Tyler Blazasky splits time.  Ambrose has thrown for 349 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season, while also rushing for 603 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Ambrose is just one of four players with at least 600 yards rushing.  Leading the rushing attack for Dover is junior RB Isaiah Green, who has rushed for 1123 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season.  Sophomore Dorran Ledbetter has rushed for 705 yards and 8 touchdowns and junior Jake McLean has rushed for 658 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Overall, the Eagles have rushed for 3606 yards on the year, averaging over 327 yards per game, on 7.44 yards per carry.

Defensively, in addition to being the quarterback, Logan Ambrose has intercepted a team-best 3 passes.  Brian Lehman anchors the defensive line for the Eagles.  Lehman has posted 6 sacks on the year.  The Eagles defense has allowed just 155 points on the season.

For the Scouts, they will need to continue doing what they do best: run the ball.  Senior QB Aidan Brosious has rushed for 866 yards and 17 touchdowns this fall, while also throwing for 771 yards and 4 more touchdowns.  Brosious also has 3 kick return touchdowns this season.  Questions remain about who will be joining Brosious in the backfield, however.  Junior running back Alex Guilbe, who has run for a team-high 947 yards has missed the last two games.  Last week, the Scouts turned to senior playmaker Dexter Jordan to carry the ball.  Jordan, who typically lines up as a receiver, carried 22 times last week for 170 yards.  Jordan and Aidan Brosious both intercepted passes as well.

Defensively, the Scouts front seven are led by linebacker Malik Shivers and defensive end Aaron Sadowski.  The Scouts secondary has also been very good, led by the efforts of Dexter Jordan and Pierce Brosious.  The Scouts defense has allowed just 142 points this season through 11 games.

If the game is close, the Scouts will have no trouble relying on sophomore kicker Jake Roth.  Roth has converted on 37 of 39 extra point attempts, while also making 10 of 12 field goal attempts.

Prediction: Conrad Weiser 23, Dover 21
