The Hawks of Hamburg faced the daunting task of playing Bermudian Springs in the opening round of the District 3 AA playoffs. Despite some struggles this season, the Hawks had played well enough to earn the #6 seed in the postseason bracket. On the other sideline stood the Eagles, who finished the regular season with a 9-1 record.
The Eagles jumped out to a 21-0 lead, which they held at halftime.
The Hawks managed to get on the board in the 3rd quarter when Joey Cominsky ran a 57 yard keeper for a touchdown. After a missed extra point, the Hawks trailed 21-6.
The Hawks would add one more score before the close of the third, when Cody Miller scored from 6 yards out, cutting the lead to 21-12. However, that was as close as the Hawks would get, as they fell 35-12.
The Hawks were led by QB Joey Cominsky, who passed for 50 yards and ran for 69 more. Joey Raffensperger ran for 111 yards on just 12 carries.
Meanwhile, the Eagles were lifted to victory by RB Colton Dull, who rushed 24 times for 116 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Bermudian Springs (10-1) will now head to Berks Catholic (11-0) for a semi-final matchup next week.
