The Saints of Berks Catholic moved to 11-0 this evening with a 59-14 win over Newport High School. It was the usual balanced attack from the section 2 champs.
Eight different Berks Catholic players scored on the night. Yes, eight.
The boys in black and gold racked up 335 yards rushing and 115 yards through the air. Todd Reedy got the scoring started with a 41 yard touchdown run. The Saints trio of quarterbacks was a perfect 7-7 during the lopsided win.
The Saints were strong on defense as well. Led by Chris Warren who had a interception return for a touchdown the saints held Newport to under 200 total yards offense. Chris Warren also made his presence felt on the offensive side of the ball with 5 carries for 95 yards and one score.
The Saints will now host Bermudian Springs, who knocked off Hamburg tonight. Berks Catholic will expect a tough test from their District 3 opponent. However the Saints continue to be one of the toughest teams to prepare for due to their balanced offensive attack.
