In a preview of what could be a District 3 AA playoff matchup, Wyomissing traveled to Leesport to battle Schuylkill Valley.
It was all Spartans early on as they jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on a 77 yard run by Peter Geyer, followed by a 95 yard pick-6 by Chase Hartman.
However, that would be all the scoring that the Spartans could muster up on the evening.
The Panthers began clawing their way back in when Ed Shuttleworth scored from a yard out, cutting the lead to 14-6 after one quarter.
Schuylkill Valley would keep the ball rolling in the second half when Shuttleworth would again score, this time from 25 yards out, cutting the Wyomissing lead to 14-13.
Senior Nick Scheidt would add one more touchdown before the end of the first half from a yard out, giving the Panthers a 20-14 lead.
Following halftime, the Panthers kept striking as Nick Scheidt added a 7 yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Ed Shuttleworth would add one more touchdown on the ground from 46 yards out, giving the Panthers a 34-14 lead which would be the final score.
Nick Scheidt finished with 35 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns, while Ed Shuttleworth added 182 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 16 carries.
The Panthers snapped a streak of 13 consecutive losses to Wyomissing, in addition to snapping Wyomissing’s 17 game Section 2 winning streak.
Schuylkill Valley (2-3, 6-3) will head to Hamburg (1-4, 5-4), while Wyomissing (4-1, 5-4) will travel to Berks Catholic (5-0, 9-0).
