Berks Catholic looked to keep their perfect season alive when they traveled to Kutztown on Friday night, which would not prove to be a very difficult task.
The Saints started scoring early and often. Cooper Kutz got the scoring started for Berks Catholic when he ran for a 25 yard touchdown.
Pop Lacey followed Kutz by rushing for a 60 yard touchdown. Lacey was soon followed by Todd Reedy, who scored from 50 yards out, and the route was on.
The Saints held a 40-0 halftime lead and never looked back, as they held on for a 48-14 win, using mostly their second team from the second quarter on.
The Saints were led by Pop Lacey, who had 5 rushes for 81 yards and touchdown. Todd Reedy added 4 carries for 72 yards and a score.
Both Cooper Kutz and Isaac Lutz had interception returns for touchdowns, the latter of which was a 100 yard return.
With a Wyomissing loss to Schuylkill Valley, the Saints clinched a Berks Football League Section 2 title.
The Saints (5-0, 9-0) will host Wyomissing (4-1, 5-4), while Kutztown (0-5, 0-9) will host Fleetwood (3-2, 5-4).
