Girls Soccer: Spartans Advance to D3 AA Semi-finals

In District 3 AA Girls Soccer playoff action, the Lady Spartans of Wyomissing went to battle with the Lady Scouts of Conrad Weiser in front of a large crowd at Don Thomas Stadium in Reiffton.

While the game lacked scoring, it was not due to a lack of offensive effort.  The matchup featured some of Berks County’s top offensive players in Wyomissing, sophomores Elke Cacchione and Emily Stump and also Conrad Weiser’s Hannah Racis, who was named an All-State performer on Tuesday.

Despite constant attack from Conrad Weiser, the Spartans were able to pull off a 1-0 win behind a goal by freshman Shea Moyer on a pass from Elke Cacchione.  The ball was initially stopped by Scouts keeper Charlotte Evans, but the ball found its way into the net off of Evans.

Kristian Taylor earned the shutout for the Spartans, who improved to 15-4-2.

Next up for #5 Wyomissing will be a date with #1 Trinity (18-1-0) in Hershey on Monday at 5:30 pm.
