Following a thrilling District 3 AA Girls Soccer matchup, the boys of Fleetwood and Oley Valley took the field for their own playoff matchup.
These two teams were familiar with one another coming in, having played each other earlier in the season, the result of which was a 1-1 draw. However, draws are a thing of the past when you get into post-season play.
Fleetwood got the scoring started when Mitch Kinek scored unassisted with 1:33 left in the first half. Kinek’s goal appeared, at the time, to be the spark the Tigers needed heading into the half.
It was a tale of two halves, as the Lynx scored early in the second half to knot it up 1-1 on a Ben Kerkeslager goal, with the assist coming from Marcus Frangakis.
Frangakis would add a goal of his own just a short time later to put the Lynx ahead 2-1, a score which would remain until the final horn.
Despite being outshot 7-5, the Lynx were able to escape with a win and have GK Ryan Krall to thank. Krall made several key stops late in the game to help Oley Valley come away with a victory.
The Lynx (15-3-2) will head to Hersheypark Stadium to battle Susquehannock (14-5-2) for a chance to play in the District 3 AA championship game.
