Boone’s defense keeps Reading in check.

Daniel Boone and Reading High both came into Friday night’s matchup searching for a section 1 win. It would be the Blazers that would pick up the 17-6 victory on an evening where they honored their seniors.

Kyle Myers continued his impressive 2013 campaign with two touchdowns and 146 yards rushing on 24 carries. Sophomore Quarterback Nick Hughes also had an impressive game with 51 yards rushing on 13 carries. This win is just the most recent example of the improvement the Blazers have made under Coach Parks.

Parks had to be extremely pleased with his team’s effort on the defensive side of the ball. Not only did they hold Reading to just six points but less than 200 yards total for the game. The defensive effort was highlighted by an impressive interception from Xavier Smith.

Sterling Young- Trapp provided the lone score for Reading who fell to 1-4 in section and 2-6 overall.  Jai Whitlock would lead the Reading ground game with 8 carries for a total of 60 yards.

Reading will play host to Conrad Weiser next Friday while Daniel Boone will travel too Muhlenberg.
