BIC Sports Players of the Week (Section 2, Week 9)

Offensive: Ed Shuttleworth/Nick Scheidt, RBs Schuylkill Valley

This week our offensive player of the week honor will be shared by the top two members of the Panthers backfield.  The tandem of Nick Scheidt (192 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Ed Shuttleworth (182 yards, 3 touchdowns) ran for 374 yards and 5 scores in a rout of Wyomissing.  The pair helped Schuylkill Valley snap a 12 game losing streak to Wyomissing, and also set themselves up to potentially host a District 3 playoff game.

Honorable Mention: Will Bornstein, RB Blue Mountain

While Blue Mountain fell to Fleetwood on Friday, it was not due to a lack of effort from their star running back.  Will Bornstein is no stranger to our Section 2 offensive players of the week.  This week the senior ran for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also catching 3 balls for 82 yards and a score.

Congratulations to Ed, Nick, and Will on earning our Offensive Player of the Week honors!

Defensive: Isaac Lutz, DB Berks Catholic

Isaac Lutz had the longest interception return of the season in Berks County during the Saints matchup with Kutztown Friday.  Lutz took an interception 100 yards to the house during Berks Catholic’s 48-14 win over the Cougars.

Honorable Mention: Michael Allen, DB Fleetwood

The Tigers top defensive back intercepted Berks County’s top passer Shane Grapsy twice on Friday night.  Michael Allen and his Fleetwood teammates’ ability to force turnovers was crucial to their success against a hot Blue Mountain team.

Congratulations to Isaac and Michael for earning our Defensive Player of the Week honors!
