BIC Sports Game of the Week: Muhlenberg at Conrad Weiser

This Friday our BIC Sports Game of the Week features a pair of 6-1 teams fighting for their lives to keep Section 1 championship hopes alive.  Muhlenberg (3-1, 6-1) travels to Robesonia to battle Conrad Weiser (3-1, 6-1).  The Muhls are fresh off a 20-0 win over Exeter, who handed the Scouts their only loss this season.  The Scouts are coming off of a 48-7 win over Twin Valley.

The Muhls come into Robesonia boasting Berks County’s top defense.  They have allowed just 67 points through 7 games and are allowing only 180 yards per game to opposing offenses.  However, Conrad Weiser features the top offense in Section 1 averaging 366 yards and over 36 points per game.

Muhlenberg will look to stick to the script on offense.  The Muhls have the top-rated passer Berks County in Antonieo Dominguez, as well as Section 1 receiving leader Elias Quinter and top rusher Ben Ortiz.  The balance on offense will pose a threat to a relatively strong Conrad Weiser defense.

Muhlenberg’s defense will face the daunting task of trying to contain RB Alex Guilbe and QB Aidan Brosious.  Guilbe, a junior, has rushed for 885 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while senior Brosious has rushed for 594 and 11 touchdowns.  Brosious has also completed 24 of 41 pass attempts for 460 yards and 3 touchdowns, while throwing 4 interceptions.

Ultimately, this game will come down to whichever defense proves tougher.  Expect a low scoring affair.

Prediction:  Muhlenberg 17, Conrad Weiser 14
