The lights were shining on Friday night in West Lawn as Wilson opened the gates to newly renovated Gurski Stadium. The Bulldogs were set to play host to Reading High one last time.
The Bulldogs came in fresh off a win over Harrisburg last week, and were looking to improve to 3-0 as they head into their Lancaster-Lebanon schedule.
The Red Knights were coming off a tough loss last week to Cocalico, and were looking forward to trying to bounce back against a tough Wilson squad.
Johnny Raifsnyder took control of the final chapter of this classic rivalry, rushing for 175 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 46-6 victory. Not only did Raifsnyder get it done on the ground, he also played well on defense, rounding out his big night by intercepting a Sterling Young-Trapp pass attempt.
Bulldogs QB Matt Timochenko passed for 84 yards, and was able to link up with his favorite weapon Dom Nigrelli 2 times for 51 yards, including a 42 yard touchdown pass.
For the second straight week, the Red Knights fell at the hands of a strong Lancaster-Lebanon opponent. It was also the second straight week Micah Paschall who took over at quarterback leading a late scoring drive for Reading. Paschall found Korahn Williams for a 5 yard score in the fourth quarter for Reading’s lone tally of the night.
Dontae Owens continued his impressive start to the season catching 3 balls for 53 yards. He now has 9 catches for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns through 3 games.
Next week Wilson will head to JP McCaskey, while Reading travels to Pottsville.
