Lacey and Berks Catholic Hold on for Close Win

The Berks Catholic Saints gave their faithful fans some uneasy feelings Friday night, however they still held on to get the 33-25 win over Columbia.

Eight different Saints had rushing attempts for the Berks Catholic offense…yes eight.

Pop Lacey would lead the attack for the Black and Gold as he had 121 yards and one score on just 11 carries. He also had three catches for 54 yards. The Saints fell behind early 7-0 but would respond quickly with a 37 yard run from Chris Warren.

The biggest play on the night would definitely come from Lacey again with a 70 yard scamper and score. That long run would definitely play a major part in the 401 total yards posted by the Saints, which included 325 on the ground.

The Saints’ balanced attack continued to work again but they will look to sharpen up on defense as we head into week 5. They will be facing a tough Blue Mountain team who is coming from two tough losses and looking to turn it’s season around quickly.
