Game of the Week: Conrad Weiser at Exeter

As league play gets underway this week, we will be treated to a great matchup in Reiffton between two undefeated teams — both Conrad Weiser and Exeter head into the game with 3-0 records.

Matt Bauer, head coach of Exeter, has stated that this is the biggest game of his coaching career.  His team will face its toughest task on Friday night.

The Eagles have been led offensively by junior quarterback Chase Yocum, who comes into this game as the team leader in rushing with 244 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Yocum has also shown that he can be dangerous through the air, having thrown for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns so far this season.

Joining Yocum in the backfield are Manny Soto, Ethan Lutz, and Matt Hampton.  Exeter’s leading receiver is Robbie Devich, who has hauled in 6 passes for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Eagles are led in the trenches by sophomore Michal Menet and senior Ryan Vogel, who each play both offensive and defensive line.  Their ability to control the line of scrimmage on each side of the ball will go a long way in determining the outcome tomorrow night.

The Scouts come in fresh off of three wins against Berks Football League Section 2 teams.

This year’s Weiser team features senior Aidan Brosious (131 yards and 2 TDs passing, 325 yards and 8 TDs rushing) and junior running back Alex Guilbe (58 carries, 443 yards, 4 touchdowns).  They love to pound the rock as much as possible, and are able to do so due to the prowess of their O line.  The big boys up front are both technically sound and tough, and are anchored by Branden Wolfskill, Brandon Naviero, Nash Gregro, and Malik Shivers.

Defensively, the Scouts are led by Malik Shivers in the middle, but it is senior Aaron Sadowski who will pose the biggest threat to opposing quarterbacks.  Expect Dexter Jordan to be matched up with Robbie Devich as much as possible.

Because both of these teams are so sound defensively, I expect a much lower scoring affair than we have seen so far this season from these schools.

Prediction: Exeter 23, Conrad Weiser 21
