Berks Football Players of the Week: Week 2 Section 2

Offensive Player of the Week: RB Will Bornstein, Senior, Blue Mountain
Bornstein carried the ball 14 times for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Eagles 49-19 win over Jim Thorpe on Friday. Bornstein now has 355 yards and 5 touchdowns through 2 games, leading the way for Blue Mountain. The senior is averaging nearly 13 yards per carry this season.

Honorable Mention: RB Nick Scheidt, Senior, Schuylkill Valley
For the second consecutive week, Nick Scheidt earns one of our offensive player accolades. This week Scheidt ran for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 carries in a dominant win over Panther Valley. Scheidt now has 396 yards and 6 offensive touchdowns this season leading the Panthers to a 2-0 start. He averages 9 yards per carry.

Defensive Player of the Week: DB Blake Lutz, Senior, Berks Catholic and DB Isaac Lutz, Sophomore, Berks Catholic

It was a great night for Lutz’s everywhere in Elverson on Friday as both Blake, a senior, and Isaac, a sophomore had defensive touchdowns.

Blake had a 20 yard fumble return for a touchdown, putting the Saints up 28-0, while Isaac had a 77 yard interception return putting the Saints up 42-0.

Honorable Mention: DB Nicholas Kuhn, Sophomore, Hamburg
Hamburg’s Nicholas Kuhn came up with a clutch interception on defense which aided the Hawks on their way to a hard earned 25-22 victory over Annville-Cleona.
