Berks Athletes Shine in State Games of America

Exeter’s Nolan Perugini had a dominant performance at the State Games of America in Hershey last weekend.

Perugini took home four gold medals in the games, all in tennis. In singles’ events, he defeated Mikesh Desai (7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-3) in the men’s open division final and Paul Greenbaum (6-2, 6-1) in the boys’ 18 division final.

In doubles’ events, Perugini paired with Conrad Weiser’s Brian Fitzpatrick (boys’ 18 division) and Wilson’s Sruthi Kamprath (mixed 18 division). Perugini and Fitzpatrick won in straight sets. Kamprath and Perugini also won in straight sets.

Kamprath won two more gold medals and finished with a total of three for the games. She defeated Alyssa Williams (6-0, 6-2) in the women’s open singles final and paired with Preethan Moras for a win over Ryan Knarr and Madison Pipkin (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) in the mixed open doubles final.

Conrad Weiser’s Yasmeen Malik teamed with Alexis Walker and won a bronze medal in girls’ 18 doubles.

Pennsylvania won the most medals in the games with a total of 471. The state also won 199 gold medals.
