It will be an interesting third year for the Berks Catholic football team as they look to improve upon last year’s 9-2 mark. Head coach Rich Keeley has prepped his team well for this upcoming season.
After previously coaching Holy Name for 22 years, Keeley knows the Berks Football League better than anyone.
Last season, the Saints improved their win total by three from their first season. This year’s team will certainly hope to do the same and nothing short of a league title will satisfy Keeley.
While the Saints may have graduated leading rusher Jack Huntsman, the team returns their next three leading rushers in seniors Chris Warren, Cooper Kutz, and Carsen Allen.
They also will return both of their QB’s from last season in senior Matt Kase and junior Patrick Causa.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints will welcome back stand out LB Nick Waligurski. Cooper Kutz also will have a big impact on defense as he looks to build on a season which saw him yield four interceptions.
The Saints also added two transfers, Pop Lacey from Daniel Boone and Dalton Hoagland from Hamburg. Both are expected to contribute.
With such a strong contingent of seniors, the Saints have to be among the favorites to win Section 2.
