Smith, Klee Named First Team All-State

Wilson’s Brittany Smith and Hamburg’s Tara Klee were named as first team selections to the PIAA Class AAAA and Class AAA teams, respectively, this week.

Smith, the Berks player of the year, helped the Bulldogs win their first Berks championship. The senior helped the Bulldogs to a 14-7 record and a District 3 playoff appearance.

Klee, an All-Berks selection, hit .641 for Hamburg. She made the All-Berks team for four straight years and will head to Massachusetts this fall.

Wilson senior Shannon Weaver made the Class AAA second team. Daniel Boone sophomore Bekah Slattery was an honorable mention.

Twin Valley senior Sam Lichtner was named to the Class AAA second team. Lichtner went 19-0 on the mound and helped the Raiders to a perfect regular season, a 25-3 record and a PIAA quarterfinal appearance.

Brandywine Heights’s Megan Olsen was an honorable mention in Class AA. She helped the Bullets clinch the first state championship in school history.
