McGinley Named Hamburg Boys Basketball Coach

The Hamburg school board approved Ryan McGinley as the Hawks head basketball coach this week.

McGinley previously coached the Penn State-Schuylkill women’s team, which he revived in 2005. He earned five PSUAC playoff berths and advanced to the conference championship game three consecutive years. His record with the Lady Lions was 90-74 when he resigned from the program in June.

The 34-year-old takes over a Hawks team that finished 3-19 last season (0-10 in Berks II). Hamburg finished last in the BCIAA in points per game (40.7) and allowed the most points per game (59.0). The Hawks have finished last in their division three straight seasons and compiled a 9-56 record in that span.

McGinley takes over a team that returns two key contributors from 2012-13: Josh Kisha and Patrick Barter. Kisha averaged 8.8 points and Barter averaged 8.1 points in 21 games for the Hawks.
